Defining Exceptional Spaces for Well-being and Sustainability
Phronesis was founded to create exceptional spaces that enrich the well-being of all people and support environmental, social, and economic health. To meet that goal, our projects must be buildable, environmentally just, and calibrated to the needs of site patrons.
Community engagement is both an art and a science, and is the backbone of a great community plan.
The science is in designing the program, presentations, and articulating the questions that need to be answered. The art is having the flexibility to tackle difficult questions, address the unknown, gain consensus and facilitate a productive dialogue.
We understand urban stormwater infrastructure and how green infrastructure can support a more pedestrian-oriented healthy, walkable community. Green Infrastructure can be a catalyst for community development if it is integrated into more holistic, watershed-based approach.

Dialogue of Discovery
We begin our process with a conversation to facilitate a larger stakeholder dialogue. This process is a replicable one, but it still allows each community to define their project locally.
We look beyond project boundaries to understand the challenges for the site in relation to the neighborhood.
We have found the needs for green infrastructure and connectivity of urban design are often linked. We work to create spaces that are reflective of our evolving cities, communities and natural environments by instilling regenerative systems into our creative design solutions. We find it important to involve communities in our design process and believe in implementing projects that can function on a complex scales that provide benefits to humans, nature, and a sense of place.
